Another scrumble to add to the Freeforming Lace Challenge - this time picking up purple instead of black, which is represented only in three black beads in the center.


O.K., I admit it! Our resident green treefrog was instrumental in choosing the colors! He is probably not happy with the purple...

Jenny Dowde Freeforming Lace Challenge No. 6

A 24 months' stash of basically green scrumbles awaiting their further and maybe final destination finally found the attention they probably deserve - I started surrounding them with black holes, to paraphrase Jenny Dowde's i.e. SusieBM's description of the project. Luckily, there is no deadline for the challenge.

Purple Scrumble Crochet + Knitting

Onward Scrumble
Leslie52 of Ravelry was looking for knitted scrumbles or hybrids. It interested me to specifically integrate knitting into a crocheted scrumble so that it does NOT cry out "I am the knitted part"! The black knit part adds interest to the crocheted scrumble, in my view.

No Power Knitting

Last week's violent storm presented us three days without electricity. The roaring and whistling of the storm was truly frightening, we expected the roof to be blown away and the wonderful over 350 year old oak trees to give way to the force of the storm. But we were lucky this time - no real major damage, it could have been so much worse.

Huddled around an open fireplace for those three days this power-free time also meant a lot of reading, knitting and crocheting - until the daylight went.
The fireplace came in handy for preparing hot tea and soup as well, using our trusty 40 year old camping pots and pans!



My Blue Scrumble 1 project turned into an
evening opera cuff or wristlet. Made black
double Dorset Buttons for closing.




I also started two more freeform scrumbles -
inspired by Prudence Mapstone's 2009 Weekly Scrumble -
with all that free time around the hearth ...
