Autumn Color Scarf

For A walk in the Woods ...
a long scarf with stripes in autumn colors, finished late October 2009. The scarf was knitted the long way, i.e. the number of cast-on stitches determined the length.

Colorful leaves
on the trees,
dancing

Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926)

Die Blätter fallen, fallen wie von weit,
als welkten in den Himmeln ferne Gärten;
         unendlich sanft in seinen Händen hält.

The leaves are falling, they fall as from afar,
 as if withered in those heavens' distant gardens;
 they are falling with a declining gesture.
 And in the nights the heavy earth
will fall from all stars into soltitude.
We are all falling. This very hand will fall.
And look at others: it is inside them all.
And yet there is one, who these fallings
holds infinitely gently in his hands.

Very gothic and it must be warm and comfy for the neck. Great knit, Laura. And, the beautiful backdrop is to die for. How I wish I can be there and hang out...

Gothic is the key word! The size is good for wrapping around two people at once!
